Disney World – 13 Days to 190
Day 9 – 197.7 lbs
Missed the start? Read Day 1
Catch up? Read Day 8
For five straight days, the scale sat over 199.
199.4.
199.8.
199.2.
199.6.
You know the drill.
And if I’m being honest, it was frustrating.
Calories were tight.
Protein was high.
Lifts were consistent.
Steps were in.
Execution was there.
But the scale? It looked like it had parked itself at Tomorrowland and wasn’t moving.
🧠 The Real Version of Patience
This is where patience gets tested.
Not the motivational-poster version of patience.
The real one.
The quiet, disciplined, slightly annoyed version.
Because when you’re doing everything right and the scale doesn’t respond, it’s easy to start questioning the plan.
“Maybe I need to cut harder.”
“Maybe I need more cardio.”
“Maybe this isn’t working.”
That’s the trap.
This week wasn’t about emotion. It was about execution.
And today?
197.7.
There it is.
Nothing dramatic. No fireworks over the castle. No parade down Main Street.
Just proof that patience pays.
📉 Fat Loss Isn’t Amazon Prime
We live in a world that expects Amazon Prime results.
But fat loss over 50 doesn’t work like ordering Mickey ears online.
It works like construction. Brick by brick.
For five days, the trend looked flat. But underneath the surface, things were happening:
- Inflammation settling.
- Glycogen shifting.
- Digestion stabilizing.
- Recovery improving.
You don’t see those things. But they count.
And when they line up?
The scale drops.
Patience isn’t passive.
It’s disciplined repetition without panic.
🔥 What This Means for Disney
We’re four days out.
This isn’t about chasing 190 at all costs anymore. It’s about being lighter, leaner, and ready.
Ready for:
- Long park days.
- Florida heat.
- 20,000+ step days.
- Standing in line without your lower back barking like Goofy. Wait, does he bark?
At 197.7, I already feel the difference.
Energy is steadier.
Training feels tight.
Recovery is solid.
Hunger is controlled — not desperate.
That matters more than one stubborn five-day stretch over 199.
🧭 The Mental Shift
Earlier in this challenge, every weigh-in felt like judgment.
Now?
It feels like data.
If the trend is down, stay the course.
If the trend stalls, stay the course — unless behavior slipped.
That’s the maturity piece after 50. Do I have to be mature at Disney?
No drama. No emotional roller coaster like Elsa singing “Let It Go” every time the scale bumps up.
Just:
Did I execute?
Yes.
Then keep going.
And eventually, the body responds.
🏋️ Final 4-Day Plan
Today: Regular workout + push the treadmill a little harder
Thursday: Rest day
Friday: Basement gym workout
Saturday: Gym + extra treadmill
Sunday: Drive halfway to Orlando (Savannah stop)
Monday: Pick up the in-laws
Park days begin after two recovery days
Finish strong. Finish steady.
This is a good plan so I am not limping into Disney tired and depleted, but walking in capable, strong and refreshed.

💬 Reflection
Those five days above 199 weren’t failure.
They were a test.
And today’s 197.7 is proof that discipline compounds — even when it doesn’t look like it’s working.
That’s the bigger lesson here.
Patience isn’t sexy.
It’s not flashy.
It doesn’t trend on social media.
But it builds results.
And four days from now, when we’re walking down Main Street with lighter steps and better endurance, we’ll know exactly why.
Because we didn’t flinch.
